BioHubCat meets with Italy and the Republic of Ireland diplomatic representatives

Victor Falguera explores potential international collaborations to promote the bioeconomy everywhere.

The BioHubCat general coordinator, Victor Falguera, has met with the consul general of Italy, Emanuele Manzitti, and with the honorary consul general of the Republic of Ireland, Susana Ferrer.

Falguera shared during these meetings the BioHubCat role and activity as the go to point for generating economic value from renewable organic resources in Catalonia. These meetings are part of the BioHubCat agenda established to internationalize its mission.

Accordingly, Falguera emphasized to Consul Manzitti the BioHubCat’s leadership in the PRIMED European program, which involves four European regions – amongst them the Italian region of Liguria – that focus on the work carried out in Catalonia around the bioeconomy transversal dynamism.

Falguera underlined that the BioHubCat is very interested in contacting with public entities in Italy working in similar projects, as well as with business organizations, research centers and entities promoting the bioeconomy in general.

The Irish model

Falguera also shared with the honorary consul general of the Republic of Ireland, Susana Ferrer, and with the consular assistant, Gavin McAlinden, details of the mission that took place in 2022 in Ireland with the participation of universities, research centers and companies.

The BioHubCat general coordinator also presented the work of the hub creating shared agendas and collaboration projects with Ireland, which is a country of reference in the bioeconomy field in the context of the aforementioned PRIMED program, which is financed by the European Union.

Falguera and Consul Ferrer also analyzed the different projects that the BioHubCat is working on to explore collaboration opportunities between our two countries. Also Falguera expressed the BioHubCat desire to actively participate in the upcoming Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026 that will be held in Ireland.
